About the Role

Tetra Tech is seeking a highly skilled Environmental Policy Specialist to join our team. As an Environmental Policy Specialist, you will play a crucial role in leading and executing environmental planning projects, ensuring compliance with National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) regulations, and providing expert advice on environmental impact.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and execute environmental planning projects, ensuring compliance with NEPA regulations
  • Provide expert advice on environmental impact and regulatory permitting
  • Support project managers and task lead the regulatory and permitting process for various projects in the Pacific Northwest and other western states
  • Prepare and process county, state, and federal permit applications
  • Conduct studies and resource analysis, and consult with county, state, and federal governmental bodies and agencies
Requirements
  • Bachelor's or higher degree in environmental science, urban/regional planning, environmental policy, environmental studies, or related field
  • Minimum of 8 years' experience with NEPA assessments and federal, state, and local regulatory compliance/permitting in the U.S.
  • Excellent research, analytical, writing, oral communication, and organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently and communicate clearly with team members located across other offices
  • Strong task management skills in successfully scoping and managing project teams and deliverables
  • Attention to detail, ability to work independently, willingness to work as part of a team, and ability to stay positive and effective during long days in the field
  • Safety conscience and ability to continually assess ways to mitigate hazards
  • Valid driver's license and ability to participate in required company driver reviews (record checks)
  • Ability to work with and communicate with a diverse group of co-workers and clients to provide high-quality and efficient work products
Desirable Knowledge and Experience
  • Experience in preparing and processing various county, state, and federal land use permits
  • Project management experience
  • Experience within the federal land management agencies' permitting requirements (NEPA, Clean Water Act, Clean Air Act, Federal Land Policy and Management Act, Forest Service 2012 Planning Rule, etc.)
  • Knowledge and/or experience working with ArcGIS and/or other Geographic Information Systems
Compensation

Salary commensurate with experience

Salary Range: $90,000 - $130,000 per year
