About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Environmental Planning Specialist to join our team at Tetra Tech. As an Environmental Planning Specialist, you will play a crucial role in leading and executing environmental planning projects, ensuring compliance with NEPA regulations, and providing valuable advice on environmental impact matters.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and execute environmental planning projects, ensuring compliance with NEPA regulations
  • Provide valuable advice on environmental impact matters
  • Support project managers and task lead the regulatory and permitting process for various projects
  • Prepare and process county, state, and federal permit applications
  • Conduct studies and resource analysis
  • Consult with county, state, and federal governmental bodies and agencies
Requirements
  • Bachelor's or higher degree in environmental science, urban/regional planning, environmental policy, environmental studies, or a related field
  • Minimum of 8 years' experience with NEPA assessments and federal, state, and local regulatory compliance/permitting in the U.S.
  • Excellent research, analytical, writing, oral communication, and organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently and communicate clearly with team members
  • Strong task management skills in successfully scoping and managing project teams and deliverables
  • Attention to detail, ability to work independently, willingness to work as part of a team, and the ability to stay positive and effective during long days in the field
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in preparing and processing various county, state, and federal land use permits
  • Project management experience
  • Experience within the federal land management agencies' permitting requirements (NEPA, Clean Water Act, Clean Air Act, Federal Land Policy and Management Act, Forest Service 2012 Planning Rule, etc.)
  • Knowledge and/or experience working with ArcGIS and/or other Geographic Information Systems
