Responsibilities:
The primary objective is to meet customer expectations regarding quality, quantity, and delivery in a safe manner while maximizing productivity.
Specifically, the Paint Operations Supervisor is accountable for overseeing the paint department's activities to support production processes.
The Supervisor will engage directly with team members and management to provide clear guidance.Key Responsibilities Include:
supervising and coordinating the efforts of workers involved in the painting process, utilizing knowledge of procedures, production techniques, and products.
Additional Duties:
Assist team members in completing tasks within designated timeframes, adhering to internal standards, customer specifications, company practices, and relevant industrial regulations
Monitor and instruct others on the proper use of equipment.
Ensure all project timelines are met; complete all tasks promptly to align with production schedules
Identify and troubleshoot issues with any finished painted product and conduct necessary repairs
Procure parts for repairs/assembly and ensure work completion as required
Train and assess new hires in the department as necessary
Evaluate and resolve work-related challenges or assist team members in addressing such issues
Propose or initiate strategies to motivate team members towards achieving work objectives
Collaborate with other supervisors, managers, and staff to synchronize activities within the Paint department
Adhere to all safety protocols, practices, and procedures within the facility. Maintain awareness of the work environment and ensure a clean and safe workspace
Utilize personal protective equipment as required
Maintain consistent attendance – possess reliable transportation
Perform other assigned tasks as necessary
Qualifications:
Prior experience in manufacturing is highly desirable. Any technical or vocational training related to the skills mentioned below is also beneficial.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints
Experience with forklifts and overhead cranes is preferred (in-house training is available)
Must successfully pass a background check and pre-employment drug screening
Team-oriented - must be able to collaborate effectively with others
Proficient in using computer and web-based systems for data entry, access, modification, or output
Must demonstrate a strong sense of urgency to meet and exceed production targets
Detail-oriented, vigilant for material defects and quality concerns
Physically capable of standing, walking, bending, pushing, pulling, reaching, and twisting throughout the shift
Able to repetitively lift 25-50 lbs.
Candidates must be adaptable to work overtime as required, which may include weekends and/or holidays
Work Environment
While performing the duties of this role, the employee operates in a typical manufacturing setting with overhead cranes and forklifts.
Bright overhead LED lighting throughout the workspace ensures a safe working environment for employees.
Generally clean work conditions where the process may generate some grinding dust, heat/cold, fumes/odors, and vibrations. Housekeeping is conducted as needed throughout the day and at the end of each shift.
The noise level in the work environment is typical of manufacturing operations with air tools, grinders, and other equipment. Annual audiometric testing is provided by the company to monitor areas for improvement.
Non-climate-controlled facility in the summer, with fans available to maintain comfort. In the winter, heating is provided.
Education and Experience
High School Diploma or equivalent
Experience in large equipment painting is advantageous
A minimum of five (5) years of experience in manufacturing/production painting - Supervisory experience is preferred
