Key Responsibilities:
The primary objective is to meet customer expectations regarding quality, quantity, and timely delivery, all while ensuring a safe working environment and optimizing productivity. Specifically, the Mechanical Assembly Technician is accountable for all tasks necessary to support production operations.
These tasks include, but are not limited to:
executing mechanical assembly tasks that are typically complex and/or necessitate precise fitting, alignment, and adjustment of components, units, and assemblies to stringent tolerances.
Additional Duties:
Interpret and comprehend blueprints and/or verbal and written instructions with minimal oversight
Efficiently locate all necessary parts and hardware
Conduct inspections of parts prior to assembly
Organize work layout
Assemble products as required, including shimming, grinding, and setting dimensions
Assemble larger components to ensure operational integrity and disassemble for shipping as necessary
Perform touch-up painting, cleanup, and prepare items for shipping
Document final assembly actions by completing production and quality assurance forms
Troubleshoot assembly issues by adjusting dimensions to meet specifications; inform supervisor to secure additional resources
Adhere to all safety protocols, practices, and procedures within the facility. Maintain awareness of surroundings and uphold a clean and safe workspace
Utilize personal protective equipment as required
Maintain consistent attendance and have reliable transportation
Execute other assigned tasks as needed
Qualifications:
Preferred qualifications include prior experience in manufacturing. Any technical or vocational training related to the skills outlined below is also advantageous.
Must possess knowledge of blueprint reading
Familiarity with basic hand tools, power tools, measuring instruments, and transits is essential
Some understanding of welding techniques for steel, aluminum, and stainless steel is desirable
Experience with forklifts and overhead cranes is preferred (in-house training available)
Basic mathematical skills are required
Must successfully pass a background check and pre-employment drug screening
Team-oriented individual who can collaborate effectively with others
Must demonstrate a strong sense of urgency to meet and exceed production targets
Physically capable of standing, walking, bending, pushing, pulling, reaching, and twisting throughout the shift
Detail-oriented with a focus on identifying material defects and quality concerns
Ability to repetitively lift 25-50 lbs.
Candidates should be flexible to work overtime as required, which may include weekends and/or holidays
Work Environment:
While performing the duties of this position, employees work in a typical manufacturing setting with overhead cranes and forklifts.
Bright overhead LED lighting throughout the workspace ensures a safe working environment for employees to perform their tasks effectively.
The workspace is generally clean, although the processes may generate some grinding dust, heat/cold, fumes/odors, and vibrations. Housekeeping is conducted as necessary throughout the day and at the conclusion of each shift.
The noise level in the work environment is typical of manufacturing operations, with the use of air tools, grinders, and other equipment. Yearly audiometric assessments are provided by the company to identify areas for improvement.
The facility is not climate-controlled during the summer, but each work area is equipped with fans for cooling. In the winter, heating is provided.
Education and Experience:
A High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
Entry-level experience is acceptable (training may be provided).
