Job Summary

The Cook County Sheriff's Office is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Human Resources Coordinator to join our team. As a key member of our HR department, you will be responsible for providing exceptional support to our employees and management team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Act as a liaison between employees and management, providing guidance and support on HR policies and procedures.
  • Verify, enter, and process information and documentation for employee absences, leaves, and other employment-related matters.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of employee data, including personnel files and benefits information.
  • Assist with the recruitment and hiring process, including posting job openings, screening applicants, and coordinating interviews.
  • Provide training and support to employees on HR policies, procedures, and benefits.
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure compliance with labor laws and regulations.
  • Develop and implement HR programs and initiatives to improve employee engagement and retention.
  • Conduct audits and analysis to identify areas for improvement and develop recommendations for process enhancements.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field.
  • Minimum two years of professional work experience in HR, preferably in a large, complex organization.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Access.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with employees, management, and other stakeholders.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
  • Physical ability to lift up to 20 pounds and work in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • PHR certification.
  • Experience working in a union environment.
  • Previous work in a law enforcement agency.
