Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic Recreation Aide to join our team at Forest View Center for Rehab and Nursing. As a Recreation Aide, you will play a vital role in planning and implementing recreational programs that meet the interests of our residents.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Program Development: Assist in the development and implementation of recreational programs that cater to the diverse interests of our residents.
  • Resident Engagement: Engage with new residents to determine their interests and preferences, and work with them to create personalized activity plans.
  • Program Execution: Work directly with residents in the units or off-site, assisting with the setup, implementation, and cleanup of programs as needed.
  • Supply Management: Organize and obtain supplies and equipment as requested to support program activities.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate records of resident participation in activities and daily attendance.
  • Logistics: Assist residents with transportation to and from program locations and return them to their units.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with the Recreation Director to create and modify the recreation calendar, coordinate with external parties to implement recreational activities, and stay informed about established emergency procedures.
  • Administrative Tasks: Deliver mail on a daily basis and perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Customer Service Skills: Provide excellent customer service to residents, responding to their needs and preferences in a timely and professional manner.
  • Teamwork: Demonstrate the ability to work effectively as a team member, collaborating with colleagues to achieve common goals.
  • Communication: Possess strong communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively interact with residents, staff, and external partners.
  • Flexibility: Be available to work weekends and adapt to changing program schedules as needed.
  • Basic Computer Skills: Possess basic computer skills, including data entry, to support program administration and record-keeping.
  • Previous Experience: Previous experience as a Recreation Leader or in a related field is preferred, as is experience working with a geriatric population.
  • Bilingualism: Bilingualism in languages such as Creole, Russian, Chinese, or Spanish is a plus.

Shift and Schedule:

  • Shift: 8-hour shift
  • Schedule: 4 days a week, including one weekend day
