Sous Chef, Events

We are seeking a highly skilled Sous Chef to join our team at Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory. As a key member of our culinary services team, you will be responsible for preparing and serving high-quality food to our staff and guests.
Key Responsibilities:- Prepare hot and cold food as directed by the chef(s)
- Follow proper sanitation procedures to ensure a safe and healthy food environment
- Perform a secure close-up of work area/facility at the end of a shift/work day
- Maintain cooking equipment and provide support to the General Dining & Events Chef
- Manage food prep workload, provide purchasing information to the Purchasing Manager, and assist in supervision of cook staff
- Follow recipes, adhere to sanitation guidelines, and stand in for chef(s) during their absence
- Interact with clientele, fellow employees, and other supervisors in a courteous manner
- Culinary education is helpful
- Five years' cooking experience in restaurant, catering, and/or hotel
- Sanitation Certificate required
- Ability to speak and understand the Spanish language is helpful
Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory offers a competitive salary range of $20.52-$29.86 per hour, as well as exceptional health benefits, retirement plans, paid time off, and access to an affordable and licensed on-site childcare center.
