Position Overview:

The Graphics Production Specialist plays a crucial role in executing graphics at an intermediate level using proprietary playout software developed by ESPN for both live events and studio productions.

Quality Assurance:
Maintains the high standards of ESPN's on-air presentation for daily and nightly studio shows as well as event broadcasts.

Departmental Insight:
Our team is dedicated to building, enhancing, and delivering world-class designs from the Animation + Graphics Innovation + Production Design department, utilizing cutting-edge graphics technology.

We collaborate closely with all studio and event productions to present statistics and sports information continuously, enriching our visual storytelling.

Our workflows are consistently evaluated and adapted to ensure maximum efficiency in staffing and production.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operates ESPN's proprietary playout applications for live studio and event productions.
  • Works autonomously on various studio and event assignments.
  • Ensures adherence to the studio and remote formats of ESPN's networks and promotional aesthetics.
  • Guarantees the accuracy and timely preparation of graphics designated for productions.
  • Effectively communicates across departments to report technical issues.
  • Documents administrative records, including shift assignment reports and other necessary documentation.
  • Assists in training new hires on various studio production processes.
  • May fulfill Show Lead responsibilities on multiple productions, ensuring thorough graphics documentation and workflow efficiency.

Qualifications:
Candidates should possess the following skills and experience:

  • Intermediate proficiency with Windows-based playout applications.
  • Familiarity with Photoshop for assisting the design team with headshot cutouts.
  • A minimum of two years of experience in on-air graphics systems playout in a major market or network environment.
  • Strong command of Microsoft Office applications.
  • Thorough knowledge of sports is preferred.
  • Highly motivated individuals who can work unconventional hours and thrive under pressure to meet dynamic deadlines.
  • Excellent spelling and communication skills.
  • Reliable transportation is essential.

Preferred Qualifications:
Demonstrated versatility across all studio shows, including international productions. Proficient use of ESPN's Image Management System (IMS) for cataloging logos, headshots, and custom graphics. Strong understanding of ESPN production terminology, control room etiquette, and overall professionalism.

Education Requirements:
High School Diploma or Equivalent is required. A college degree in Communications, Television & Video Production, Multi-Media, or Sports Broadcast Journalism is preferred.
