Position Summary

The National Reconnaissance Office (NRO) oversees the design, construction, launch, and maintenance of the United States' intelligence satellites.

As a key player at Apogee Integration LLC, the ideal Risk Engineer will facilitate the execution of the Enterprise Risk, Issue, and Opportunity (RIO) Process. This role involves identifying and assessing risks, determining appropriate handling strategies, and ensuring timely tracking, reporting, and resolution of RIO issues.

Key Responsibilities

  • Engage in the identification of RIO, risk mitigation, and strategic planning.
  • Coordinate and evaluate responses to risks, issues, and opportunities, including preparing briefings and updating risk documentation for working group meetings.
  • Provide insights to risk working groups to highlight significant risks/issues/opportunities for enterprise-level visibility.
  • Contribute to the development of reports and white papers assessing program activities related to risks and opportunities.
  • Utilize the Enterprise RIOM Tool for data input, report generation, and risk assessment.
  • May mentor new team members on the use of risk management tools and processes.
  • Develop metrics for process improvement to evaluate the effectiveness of the overall risk management process.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering or a related STEM field, or equivalent experience in a technical discipline.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in Systems Engineering or a related area.
  • Familiarity with Systems Modeling Language (SysML) and architecture frameworks like Unified Architecture Framework (UAF).
  • Experience in satellite systems program offices or satellite development environments.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to devise and recommend solutions for complex issues.
  • Proven ability to communicate openly and work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with GEOINT, SIGINT, and/or COMM systems and comprehensive space and ground architecture.
  • Knowledge of core Systems Engineering Disciplines including Requirements, Schedule, Risk, Readiness, System Closure, and Verification, Validation & Testing (VV&T).
  • Familiarity with the Intelligence Community and related government entities.
  • Exceptional written, verbal, and presentation skills, with the capability to lead technical discussions.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
