Position Summary

The National Reconnaissance Office (NRO) oversees the design, construction, launch, and maintenance of the United States' intelligence satellites.

At Apogee Integration LLC, we are seeking a dedicated Risk Engineer to facilitate the execution of the Enterprise Risk, Issue, and Opportunity (RIO) Process. This role involves identifying and evaluating risks, determining appropriate handling strategies, and ensuring timely tracking, reporting, and resolution of RIO issues.

Key Responsibilities

  • Engage in RIO identification, risk mitigation, and strategic planning.
  • Coordinate and evaluate responses to risks, issues, and opportunities, including preparing briefings and updating risk documentation for working group meetings.
  • Advise risk working groups on risks/issues/opportunities suitable for enterprise-level visibility.
  • Contribute to the creation of reports and white papers that assess program activities related to risks and opportunities.
  • Utilize the Enterprise RIOM Tool for data input, report generation, and risk assessment.
  • Possibly mentor new team members on risk tools and processes, ensuring adherence to quality standards.
  • Develop metrics for process improvement to evaluate the effectiveness of the overall risk management process.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering or a related STEM field, or equivalent experience in a technical discipline.
  • Minimum of 3 years in Systems Engineering or a related domain.
  • Familiarity with Systems Modeling Language (SysML) and architecture frameworks such as Unified Architecture Framework (UAF).
  • Experience in satellite systems program offices or satellite development environments.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to propose effective solutions for various challenges.
  • Proven ability to communicate openly and work collaboratively within a team setting.

Preferred Skills

  • Knowledge of GEOINT, SIGINT, and/or COMM systems, along with an understanding of space and ground architecture.
  • Experience with core Systems Engineering disciplines, including Requirements, Schedule, Risk, Readiness, System Closure, and Verification, Validation & Testing (VV&T).
  • Familiarity with the Intelligence Community and associated government entities.
  • Exceptional written, verbal, and presentation skills, with the capability to lead technical discussions.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Tools.
