Job Summary

This Administrative Officer position is located in the Parkinson's Disease Research Education and Clinical Center (PADRECC) of the Richmond VA Medical Center (VAMC) in Richmond, Virginia. The ideal candidate will provide administrative support to the PADRECC team, ensuring the smooth operation of the office and contributing to the delivery of high-quality patient care.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide administrative support to the PADRECC team, including preparing data and reports, interpreting administrative policies, and developing local policies.
• Assist in the preparation of the annual budget, projecting expenditures based on past data, workload, and future goals.
• Oversee and maintain PADRECC space and equipment, including program space management and equipment maintenance and replacement plans.
• Work with Veterans Integrated Service Network (VISN) contracting staff to initiate contracts to secure equipment, staff, and other necessary resources.

Requirements

• One year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-07 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization.
• Knowledge of Human Resources Management regulations, including recruitment, performance management, position management, incentive awards, leave administration, workload distribution, and medical terminology.
• Strong written and oral communication skills, including the ability to utilize Microsoft Office programs such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Working Conditions

The work is primarily sedentary and is usually accomplished while the employee is comfortably seated at a desk or table. Some physical demands, such as standing, walking, bending, and lifting (up to 40 pounds), are required. Physical exertions, including stretching, reaching, and pulling or pushing carts, occur when assisting with inventories or activities involving retrieving items from shelves and cabinets.
