Key Responsibilities- Maintain a professional and punctual demeanor, ensuring a positive and respectful environment for individuals and colleagues alike.
- Take ownership and accountability for your work, adapting to changing needs and priorities as necessary.
- Be flexible and willing to adjust job responsibilities to meet the evolving needs of individuals and the organization.
- Adhere to policies, procedures, and regulations, ensuring compliance and maintaining a safe and healthy environment.
- Utilize effective communication and time management skills to ensure seamless collaboration with colleagues and individuals.
- Contribute to a highly effective team, fostering a culture of respect, empathy, and understanding.
- Ensure maintenance, upkeep, and safety of facilities and programs, adhering to established protocols and guidelines.
- Complete mandatory trainings and apply skills to enhance individual support and program effectiveness.
- Meet and demonstrate OPWDD Core Competencies, ensuring high-quality support and services.
- Ensure health, wellness, and safety of individuals, adhering to established protocols and guidelines.
- Provide appropriate supervision and support to individuals, promoting independence and autonomy.
- Understand when to seek support from administrators, ensuring seamless collaboration and communication.
- Demonstrate a willingness to assist individuals with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), promoting independence and dignity.
- Transport and escort individuals on recreational activities, medical appointments, and other outings, ensuring safety and well-being.
- Build positive relationships with individuals, families, and colleagues, fostering a culture of respect and empathy.
- Utilize person-first language and maintain a therapeutic environment, promoting individual growth and development.
- Ensure person-centered plans are implemented, promoting individual autonomy and choice.
- Complete documentation to ensure compliance and billing, adhering to established protocols and guidelines.
- Apply foundational teaching skills, promoting individual learning and development.
- Assist individuals with making purchases and managing personal allowance funds, promoting financial literacy and independence.
- Manage crisis situations, ensuring individual safety and well-being.
- A High School Diploma or GED is preferred.
- Work or life experience with intellectual/developmental disabilities is a plus.
- Ability to support individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities.
- Basic written and verbal communication skills.
- Basic computer knowledge.
- Valid NY State Driver's License may be required depending on the position.
- Tuberculosis test mandatory for most positions.
- Interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
- Willingness to take initiative and adapt to changing situations.
$16.50/hr.
