  • Complete mandatory trainings and apply skills to support individuals.

  • Meet and demonstrate OPWDD Core Competencies.

  • Ensure the health, wellness, and safety of individuals.

  • Provide appropriate supervision and support to individuals.

  • Understand when to seek support from administrators.

  • Assist individuals with activities of daily living, such as bathing, toileting, and grooming.

  • Transport and escort individuals on recreational activities, medical appointments, and home visits.

  • Build positive relationships with individuals and colleagues.

  • Use person-first language and maintain a therapeutic environment.

  • Implement person-centered plans and complete documentation for compliance and billing.

  • Utilize foundational teaching skills, such as EMOE, task analysis, and essential skills.

  • Assist individuals with making purchases and managing personal allowance funds.

  • Manage crisis situations effectively.

Requirements

  • Ability to support individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities through patient and compassionate care.

  • Work or life experience with intellectual and developmental disabilities is a plus.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Basic computer knowledge.

  • Valid New York State driver's license.

  • Tuberculosis test mandatory for most positions.

Compensation

$16.50 per hour.
