Job Summary

AHRC New York City is seeking a Full-Time Employment Skills/Direct Support Professional for our Staten Island Day Program.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support individuals with disabilities in leading self-directed lives.
  • Enhance participant employability by instructing work behaviors and skills.
  • Transport individuals to and from job sites.
  • Develop and implement individualized support plans.
  • Collaborate with individuals and teams to plan and implement supports that build upon individual strengths, choices, and capabilities.
  • Develop and expand meaningful community opportunities.
  • Ensure compliance with OPWDD regulations, agency policies, and agency values.
  • Support individuals in building self-esteem and assertiveness.
Requirements
  • Personal and/or professional experience working with individuals with disabilities is preferred.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English.
  • Ability to establish and maintain working relationships with program participants, families, staff, and community agencies.
  • Flexibility in work hours and ability to respond to scheduling needs.
  • Knowledge of Home and Community Based Waiver and ability to stay up-to-date on related knowledge.
  • Understanding of Person-Centered Planning.
  • High School diploma or GED is required.
  • NYS Driver's License is required.
