Responsibilities
As Mainspring rapidly scales production of its linear generators, maintaining quality is vital to our mission's success. The Supplier Quality team plays a crucial role in supplier selection and performance evaluation concerning key delivery and quality standards. You will enhance and implement improvements to the supplier audit and qualification processes in collaboration with Supply Chain, Engineering, and other QA team members. You will also develop and execute quality plans utilizing the Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) methodology, including tools such as the Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) and regular root-cause analysis. Your organizational skills, effective communication, and ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment will be essential as you engage with Engineering, R&D, Operations, and Supply Chain.
- Establish and nurture trusting relationships with assigned suppliers and internal stakeholders.
- Evaluate supplier capabilities through site visits and process audits to ensure compliance with regulations, agreements, standards, and documented procedures.
- Collaboratively qualify processes with Suppliers, Design Engineers, the Supplier Quality Team, and the Incoming Inspection Team.
- Actively participate in and lead new product development initiatives concerning supplier quality to support product and process design and development activities, including leading the supplier risk management process.
- Support the review and approval of product and process change control documentation and specifications related to assigned suppliers.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in Quality Engineering within a fast-paced, high-growth environment (experience in industrial and/or automotive sectors is advantageous).
- 1+ years of experience in areas such as PCB/PCBA manufacturing, wiring harness (both power and signal), electrical assembly, and related testing methodologies.
- Proficient in implementing APQP, PPAP, and Root Cause Analysis.
- Preferred qualifications include Six Sigma, Lean, and ASQ certifications and training.
- This role may require up to 40% travel.
- Experience successfully launching complex components and assemblies into volume production using quality planning from prototype through mass production stages.
- Active participation in product development efforts, with a clear understanding of the transition from prototype to volume production.
- Familiarity with and successful implementation of gates within a product development process.
- Able to thrive in both structured and unstructured environments, making informed decisions about priorities amidst limited resources.
- Experience using collaboration tools such as Basecamp, Asana, or Trello, and relational databases like Airtable or Quickbase to achieve results with cross-functional teams.
- Familiarity with Product Lifecycle Management systems like Arena, ARAS, DDM, or Siemens PLM to connect product requirements with suppliers.
- Background in geometric dimensioning and tolerancing ANSI Y14.5 to interpret manufacturing drawings and tolerance requirements.
The salary range for this position is competitive and commensurate with experience, including pre-IPO stock options and benefits. This position is based on-site.
