Key Responsibilities
As Mainspring Energy rapidly expands production capabilities for our linear generators, maintaining quality is paramount to our success. The Supplier Quality team plays a vital role in selecting suppliers and monitoring their performance against essential delivery and quality standards. You will enhance and implement improvements to the supplier audit and qualification processes in collaboration with Supply Chain, Engineering, and the QA team. Your role will involve developing and executing quality plans utilizing the Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) methodology, alongside tools such as the Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) and regular root-cause analysis. You will thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment that includes Engineering, R&D, Operations, and Supply Chain.
- Establish and nurture trusting relationships with assigned suppliers and internal stakeholders.
- Evaluate supplier capabilities through site visits and process audits to ensure compliance with regulations, agreements, and standards.
- Collaboratively qualify processes with Suppliers, Design Engineers, Supplier Quality Team, and Incoming Inspection Team.
- Lead and participate in new product development teams concerning supplier quality to support product and process design and development activities, including supplier risk management.
- Assist in reviewing and approving product and process change control documentation and specifications related to assigned suppliers.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field.
- Over 5 years of experience in Quality Engineering within a fast-paced, high-growth environment (experience in industrial and/or automotive sectors is advantageous).
- At least 1 year of experience in areas such as PCB/PCBA manufacturing, wiring harnesses (power and signal), electrical assembly, and associated testing methods.
- Proficient in implementing APQP, PPAP, and Root Cause Analysis methodologies.
- Preferred certifications and training in Six Sigma, Lean, and ASQ.
- This position may require up to 40% travel.
Essential Skills
- Proven experience in launching complex components and assemblies into volume production, utilizing quality planning from prototype to mass production.
- Active participation in product development efforts, understanding the transition from prototype to volume production.
- Strong grasp of product development processes and the ability to implement effective gates.
- Ability to excel in both structured and unstructured environments, making critical decisions regarding priorities amidst limited resources.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with collaboration tools such as Basecamp, Asana, or Trello, and relational databases like Airtable or Quickbase.
- Familiarity with Product Lifecycle Management systems like Arena, ARAS, DDM, or Siemens PLM to align product requirements with suppliers.
- Background in geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (ANSI Y14.5) for interpreting manufacturing drawings and tolerance specifications.
Travel Requirements: Up to 50% international travel may be necessary, with potential for extended trips.
