Position Summary:


The Senior Model-Based Systems Engineer plays a pivotal role in defining mission requirements, conducting mission engineering, and exploring design trade-offs for integrated hardware/software systems. This position involves simulation-based performance analysis for intricate systems and system-of-systems, utilizing digital engineering (DE) and model-based systems engineering (MBSE) frameworks, presenting findings to leadership or government stakeholders, and crafting research and development (R&D) proposals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Independently manage system engineering lifecycle tasks.
  • Adapt effectively to shifts in program priorities and requirements.
  • Comply with established best practices and Quality Management System protocols.
  • Continuously enhance expertise in technical disciplines through both formal and informal education.
  • Collaborate within multidisciplinary teams while executing assignments independently.
  • Drive solutions to complex challenges with minimal guidance.
  • Lead small teams (fewer than five members) and align efforts towards program objectives.
  • Provide insights and recommend design modifications based on analytical results, applying analysis techniques across various technical challenges.
  • Identify technical risks at the program/system level and develop and implement mitigation strategies.
  • Actively mentor junior engineers, offering constructive feedback.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Highly organized with a systemic approach to problem-solving.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Hands-on experience with simulation-based performance analysis.
  • Practical knowledge of the systems engineering process.
  • Proficiency in modeling and simulation, coding in computer languages, descriptive modeling (e.g., SysML), STPA, and/or other engineering analysis tools may be required.
  • Familiarity with GN&C, avionics architectures, fault tolerance, cybersecurity, communications/encryption, threat modeling, or other relevant technologies may be necessary as specified in the summary.
Educational Background:
A Bachelor's degree in engineering, physics, mathematics, or a related field is required. A Master's degree or higher is preferred.

Experience:
5-10 years of experience in systems engineering or a related field is required.

Additional Information:

Selected candidates will be required to obtain and maintain a government security clearance.
