Position Overview

Salary: $145,000 to $160,000

As a Senior Engineer in Electromagnetic Design within the Electro-Mechanical Instruments Division, you will be instrumental in advancing the development of electro-mechanical inertial instruments tailored for innovative guidance systems, building upon our extensive heritage. Your primary responsibility will be to spearhead the design of next-generation miniaturized motors and resolvers that are essential for controlling guidance systems utilized in various applications.

You will collaborate closely with a diverse team of engineers and physicists to create prototypes for cutting-edge gyroscopes, accelerometers, and guidance-aiding sensors. Your role will involve performance characterization, production planning, and ultimately delivering robust systems that adhere to some of the most rigorous global standards.

In addition to your technical contributions, you will serve as a mentor and technical guide for junior engineers, fostering their growth in a dynamic and challenging environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the design and development of high-precision torque motors, resolvers, and other electromagnetic devices for practical applications.
  • Enhance in-house design tools, analytical models, and conduct electromagnetic simulations to elevate our technological capabilities.
  • Engage with both internal and external teams to prototype designs and execute motor dynamometer testing for performance evaluation and fault diagnosis.
  • Develop motor control simulation models and assist in the firmware development for motor control systems.
  • Utilize your expertise in power electronics integration for electromagnetic applications.
Qualifications

Required:

  • Specialization in electromagnetics, either academically or professionally.
  • A Master’s degree or PhD in Engineering Physics or a related field is preferred; however, candidates with a Bachelor’s degree and significant industry experience will also be considered.
  • A minimum of 5 years of relevant technical experience in industry or research settings.
  • Self-motivated with a strong ability to thrive in a multidisciplinary team environment.
  • Passion for mentoring students and junior engineers.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proven track record of innovation and technical leadership.

Security Clearance: Candidates selected for this role will be required to obtain and maintain a government security clearance.
