POSITION SUMMARY:
The Electrical Controls Engineer is accountable for employing engineering methodologies and analytical approaches to enhance and refine manufacturing workflows and products. Key responsibilities include identifying the necessary machinery, tools, and operational sequences for production and assembly tasks; recommending designs for production machinery and plant equipment; and providing support to vendors on design challenges related to tools, gauges, and manufacturing equipment.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop and sustain the manufacturing control and data acquisition systems within the facility.
- Create and integrate user interfaces that connect manufacturing systems with operators.
- Assist in troubleshooting control system issues, including PLC programming and interface systems.
- Update equipment programs as needed to facilitate improvements in manufacturing processes.
- Establish a planned maintenance schedule for all electrical infrastructure in manufacturing.
- Educate designated staff on the operation and upkeep of programmable logic controllers and manufacturing networks.
- Oversee projects from inception to completion, including:
- Preparing budget requests for new equipment and systems.
- Formulating budgets and timelines.
- Leading cross-functional teams.
- Creating compliant instructions and documentation.
- Acting as a liaison with manufacturing engineering on control and motion issues.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
A Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field of Engineering Technology is required.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
A minimum of five years of experience in manufacturing or product engineering is essential. Candidates should have:
- Experience with Allen Bradley PLCs, HMIs, and RSLogix software.
- Proficiency in programming and troubleshooting servo systems.
- Experience with robotic interfaces, preferably Motoman.
- Familiarity with National Instruments LabVIEW.
- Knowledge of vision systems, such as Cognex and Keyence.
- Demonstrated capability to manage projects from concept to execution.
- Strong interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with plant personnel and vendors.
SKILLS REQUIRED:
- Expertise in PLC troubleshooting.
- Proficiency in CAD software.
- Industrial robot programming skills.
- Experience in PLC programming.
- Familiarity with SCADA systems.
- A Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
- Background in Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering.
MACHINES & TECHNOLOGIES:
- Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) including Fanuc, Allen Bradley, Panasonic, and Siemens.
- Industrial Robots such as Fanuc, Yaskawa Motoman, and Universal Robotics.
SALARY INFORMATION:
$480.77 per hour
