Position Overview

The Chief Executive Officer will lead the mission of the Asian American Arts Alliance, ensuring its financial stability and overseeing the management team.

Reporting to the Board of Directors, the CEO will collaborate with the Artistic Director to enhance the organization's brand, visibility, and artistic vision, while engaging with the diverse community and fostering meaningful relationships locally, regionally, and nationally.

Actively involved in supporting existing partnerships and developing new collaborations with various artistic, educational, civic, and social justice organizations, the CEO will be a prominent figure and respected leader within the community.

This individual will take initiative in managing board and donor relations, focusing on securing philanthropic support, maximizing revenue opportunities, and promoting financial responsibility throughout the organization.

The CEO will mentor and guide a dynamic management team of emerging leaders, empowering their professional development and personal growth.

Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership and Community Engagement
  • Direct the strategic vision and planning for the organization's future artistic, educational, and community role.
  • Develop strategies and oversee implementation by the management team in areas such as artistic administration, marketing, development, education, community relations, and finance.
  • Innovate and elevate the organization's profile for current and potential audiences, educators, program participants, community leaders, and donors.
  • Foster and develop strong collaborative partnerships locally and regionally to enhance artistic, educational, and community engagement goals.
  • Engage with peer organizations to stay informed about industry trends and advise the board on relevant developments.
  • Embrace additional strategic leadership and community engagement responsibilities as necessary.
Revenue Development and Board Governance
  • Oversee the creation of innovative fundraising and marketing plans in collaboration with the Development and Marketing Managers and Board of Directors.
  • Identify and cultivate relationships with key community leaders and partners to diversify and expand the organization's revenue and audience base.
  • Regularly engage with current and potential donors through community and fundraising events, actively participating as the primary fundraiser.
  • Build a diverse and inclusive board that reflects the community and possesses the necessary skills to secure resources and relationships.
  • Guide board orientation, education, and engagement activities, ensuring effective communication with the Board.
  • Encourage management team involvement in building direct relationships with the Board.
  • Embrace additional revenue development and board governance responsibilities as necessary.
Artistic Engagement and Support
  • Serve as the main point of contact for the Artistic Director and engage with artists regularly.
  • Support the Artistic Director in developing compelling programs aligned with financial goals.
  • Strategically engage with current and new artistic partners.
  • Participate in negotiations with the artist staff and support collaborative relationships.
  • Work alongside the Artistic Director in negotiations with educational program staff.
  • Embrace additional artistic engagement and support responsibilities as necessary.
Financial Management and Organizational Diversity
  • Guide long-term financial planning and oversight in partnership with the Board's Finance Committee.
  • Steer the development of marketing strategies for events and audience engagement.
  • Oversee all financial matters, ensuring strategic budgeting and sound financial management.
  • Act as the organization's ambassador, participating in public appearances and presentations.
  • Champion diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility initiatives within the organization.
  • Manage employee benefits and performance reviews.
  • Embrace additional financial management and organizational diversity responsibilities as necessary.
Qualifications

A minimum of eight years of progressively responsible senior management experience in financial oversight, strategic planning, and community engagement is essential. Demonstrable expertise in cultivating philanthropic support and financial accountability is necessary. A bachelor's degree or equivalent experience is required, with a master's degree or relevant expertise preferred. A passion for and commitment to the arts sector is expected.

Candidates must be able to travel regularly and attend events as needed.
