Position Summary

The Underwriting Support Specialist plays a crucial role in multi-line underwriting, serving as a bridge between external vendors and internal teams. Key responsibilities include evaluating and pricing new and renewal insurance policies, engaging in negotiations, coordinating policy services, managing facultative reinsurance placements, and providing comprehensive insurance and agency services along with marketing support.

Key Responsibilities

  • In-depth understanding of Property & Casualty (P&C) commercial lines products, including Property, General Liability, and Auto, along with coverage forms, rating plans, and complex risk assessments.
  • Foster and maintain strong relationships with all internal and external stakeholders.
  • Experience in underwriting large automotive fleets.
  • Ability to analyze, interpret, and manipulate statistical data effectively.
  • Proven capability to collaborate across various departments.
  • Operate effectively within assigned authority to meet strategic and organizational objectives.
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Skillfully negotiate and convey complex underwriting decisions to both internal and external partners.
  • Uphold a high standard of professionalism.
  • Identify challenges and devise effective solutions.

Qualifications

Required

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • At least 2 years of experience in insurance underwriting operations or a related field.
  • Familiarity with P&C commercial lines products, including Auto, Property, General Liability, and Umbrella.
  • Demonstrated knowledge, skills, and abilities relevant to the role.
  • Must possess legal authorization to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship.

Preferred

  • CT Producers license.
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
  • Experience collaborating with agents and brokers.
  • Basic knowledge of Affordable and Public housing operations and associated insurance contracts.
  • Experience in commercial auto underwriting.

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

  • Work is conducted in a climate-controlled office environment.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs.
  • Minimal travel required (
