Position Summary:

The Human Resources Specialist will embody a service-oriented approach, delivering precise information, prompt responses, and facilitating human resource processes for all staff and stakeholders at KIPP Nashville. This role encompasses various functions throughout the employment lifecycle, managing tasks through the Human Resources Information System (HRIS), and executing HR-related data entry with a keen attention to detail. The position reports directly to the Director of Human Resources.

Key Responsibilities:

The responsibilities of the HR Specialist include, but are not limited to:

  • Providing daily assistance to staff inquiries, utilizing human resource processes and delivering customer service to various departments.
  • Investigating issues, drafting responses, and communicating effectively; escalating matters when necessary.
  • Adopting a solutions-focused mindset.
  • Managing time and projects efficiently.
  • Encouraging the utilization of HR systems, policies, and procedures.
  • Completing employment and experience verifications accurately.
  • Performing additional duties as assigned.
Employee Onboarding and Offboarding:
  • Collaborating and communicating effectively with leaders to foster a positive employee experience.
  • Managing processes related to onboarding and offboarding, including coordinating with key stakeholders, updating communication documents, and overseeing the completion of required items.
  • Supporting new hire orientation and training sessions.
  • Executing HR procedures to assist staff during onboarding and offboarding.
HRIS and Data Management:
  • Utilizing the HRIS to assist staff throughout the employment lifecycle, including promptly adding/removing staff, organizing HR records, and generating various employee reports for stakeholders.
  • Staying updated on system enhancements and their potential to improve HR processes.
  • Collaborating with stakeholders to identify system improvements and recommend solutions.
  • Managing HRIS user accounts and access levels.
  • Conducting regular internal audits to ensure data accuracy and compliance.
  • Following best practices to maintain data privacy and confidentiality.
Benefits, Compensation, and Payroll Administration:
  • Assisting stakeholders with policies related to benefits and time off, including managing leaves of absence and disability requests in accordance with applicable laws.
  • Monitoring and processing employee changes, including retirement eligibility and life events.
  • Partnering with departments and vendors to ensure payroll accuracy, addressing inquiries, and reconciling payroll discrepancies.
  • Reconciling invoices and processing bulk changes.
  • Maintaining partnerships with external stakeholders.
Compliance and Reporting:
  • Submitting timely personnel reports to the Local Education Agency as required.
  • Completing federal and state compliance reports as necessary.
  • Acquiring knowledge to support stakeholders in maintaining their teaching licenses based on state guidelines.
  • Managing employee certification statuses within applicable systems.
Qualifications:

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, Business Management, or a related field.
  • 2-4 years of experience in Human Resources.
  • Strong business acumen and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple responsibilities and meeting deadlines.
  • Meticulous attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Google Drive.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Prior experience in Data/HR Analytics is advantageous.
  • Demonstrated passion for the mission and values of KIPP Nashville.

Our comprehensive compensation package includes life insurance, long-term disability coverage, voluntary medical and dental plans, retirement benefits, and annual salary adjustments. This position is exempt and follows a 12-month schedule.
