POSITION SUMMARY:

A Class A Driver is tasked with the safe operation of a heavy commercial vehicle, which may include a tractor-trailer or a straight truck with a pup trailer, to ensure timely and courteous delivery and collection of large containers. The Class A Driver is responsible for maintaining compliance with the Company's safety standards prior to vehicle operation, adhering to all relevant regulations, and completing daily vehicle condition reports to ensure timely repairs of any vehicle defects.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Conduct thorough pre- and post-operation inspections of the vehicle to verify that all safety equipment, gauges, and controls are functioning correctly. Report any safety concerns as per standard procedures.

• Safely navigate the designated route and disposal site, following the route sheet and servicing each customer as outlined or assigned by the dispatcher.

• Operate manual and/or automatic controls in accordance with safety policies to lift and load refuse, operate compactors, and dispose of collected materials at designated facilities.

• Engage courteously with customers, dispatchers, and colleagues to ensure timely and professional service on all routes.

• Perform minor repairs to containers on-site or within the container yard.

• Identify and tag unsatisfactory waste containers following departmental procedures.

• Monitor waste for unacceptable materials consistently.

• Clean areas around accidental waste spills, ensuring compliance with safety standards.

• Maintain the vehicle's operational readiness to minimize downtime and ensure cleanliness after each disposal trip.

• Complete necessary route/productivity sheets and vehicle condition reports as required.

• Adhere to productivity standards to ensure timely and efficient service for all customers.

• Follow all safety policies and procedures diligently.

• Actively participate in the Company's safety programs.

• Perform additional job-related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Strong customer service skills to meet and exceed expectations; maintains professionalism and cooperation with customers and colleagues.

• Effective time management skills to ensure responsibilities are completed efficiently and safely.

• Ability to follow through on tasks and adhere to work schedules.

• Commitment to company policies and safety standards; avoids unnecessary risks.

• Pride in work and striving to achieve all set goals.

• Two years of prior experience driving commercial vehicles is preferred.

• Mechanical aptitude to perform minor repairs on containers.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

• Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License with air brakes endorsement.
