POSITION SUMMARY:

A Class A Driver is tasked with the safe operation of a heavy commercial vehicle, which may include a tractor-trailer or a straight truck with a pup trailer, to ensure timely and courteous delivery and collection of large containers. The Class A Driver is responsible for maintaining compliance with the Company's safety standards prior to vehicle operation, adhering to all relevant regulations, and completing daily vehicle condition reports to address any defects promptly.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Conduct thorough pre- and post-operation inspections of the vehicle to ensure safety equipment, gauges, and controls are functioning correctly. Report any safety concerns as per standard procedures.

• Safely navigate the designated route and disposal site, utilizing route sheets and maps to service each customer as outlined or assigned by the dispatcher.

• Operate manual and/or automatic controls in line with Company safety protocols to lift and load refuse, manage compactors, and dispose of collected materials appropriately.

• Engage courteously with customers, dispatchers, and other stakeholders to ensure timely and professional service delivery.

• Perform minor repairs to containers as needed.

• Identify and tag unsatisfactory waste containers following departmental procedures.

• Monitor waste for any unacceptable materials continuously.

• Ensure cleanliness around any accidental waste spills, adhering to all safety standards.

• Maintain vehicle readiness by monitoring its condition and cleaning waste from containers after each trip.

• Complete necessary route/productivity sheets and vehicle condition reports as required.

• Adhere to productivity standards to ensure efficient service delivery.

• Follow all safety policies and procedures diligently.

• Participate actively in the Company's safety programs.

• Undertake other job-related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Strong customer service skills to meet and exceed expectations; maintain professionalism and cooperation with customers and colleagues.

• Effective time management skills to complete responsibilities efficiently and safely.

• Ability to follow through on tasks and adhere to work schedules.

• Commitment to Company policies and safety standards, avoiding unnecessary risks.

• Pride in work and a drive to achieve set goals.

• Two years of experience driving commercial vehicles preferred.

• Mechanical aptitude for performing minor repairs to containers.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

• Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License with air brakes endorsement.
