Position Overview

Sesame Workshop is in search of a temporary part-time Senior Manager, Speakers Bureau and Public Affairs to oversee the organization’s speaking engagements and initiatives that promote our mission. This role will primarily report to the VP, Global Brand Narrative & Public Affairs, facilitating speaking opportunities, executive communications, and other leadership initiatives to enhance the visibility and mission of Sesame Workshop.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage requests for speakers from Sesame Workshop, evaluate opportunities, and identify additional avenues to promote our mission and objectives.
  • Conduct initial discussions to gather details on speaking opportunities and create summaries; evaluate the potential of opportunities and provide informed recommendations.
  • Prepare briefing documents and talking points for speaking engagements and other leadership communications.
  • Collaborate with external partners to coordinate opportunities and further Sesame Workshop's leadership goals; propose innovative ideas for consideration.
  • Organize and lead preparatory calls with speakers and event organizers to discuss presentation content and logistics; offer preparation support to speakers, including executives, as necessary.
  • Research and compile briefs on summits, conferences, and other events where Sesame Workshop could pursue speaking opportunities.
  • Engage with various stakeholders across the organization, including PR & Events, Audience Development, Brand Creative, Philanthropic Development, Finance, and Legal, to enhance our leadership strategy and manage speaking engagement logistics.
  • Work with the Legal department to draft speaking agreements and obtain necessary permissions.
  • Maintain records of Speakers Bureau activities and a library of talking points and presentation materials.
  • Be prepared to support speakers and talent on-site at events as required.
  • Prepare budget estimates, manage invoices and payments, and provide administrative assistance.
  • Deliver regular updates to the VP, Global Brand Narrative & Public Affairs.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in event management and/or communications, preferably within the non-profit sector.
  • Exceptional writing skills with a passion for storytelling, whether through talking points or presentations.
  • Strong organizational skills with a focus on process management; adept at handling multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Meticulous attention to detail and highly organized.
  • Proactive, self-driven, and capable of working independently while also contributing to a collaborative team environment.
  • Outstanding relationship-building abilities.
  • Demonstrated initiative and strategic thinking; results-focused.
  • Quick learner with the ability to adapt to new tasks.
  • Preferred but not mandatory: Ability to work in the NYC office two days a week.
