Job Overview

This role will be overseen by a Department Head or General Manager. The primary focus will be on routine operational duties and overseeing team members in their operational roles.

Additional responsibilities may be assigned based on business needs and career development opportunities.

Ensure guest satisfaction and the smooth functioning of the hotel by managing back-of-house departments in the absence of the General Manager or Manager on Duty.

This position may assist the General Manager in consistently striving for hotel profitability through revenue enhancement, cost management, guest satisfaction, and staff development.

Exempt associates are expected to fulfill their job responsibilities as necessary throughout the workday. Management-level associates are also expected to work as required, with overtime applicable for OEM associates.

The Operations Manager OEM may support various areas within the property, including:

  • Housekeeping
  • Engineering/Maintenance
  • Food & Beverage
  • PBX
  • Bell Staff
  • Front Office
  • Banquets
Qualifications:

Minimum of 3 years of progressive experience in Rooms or Food & Beverage departments within a hotel; or a 4-year college degree with 1 to 2 years of experience in a Rooms or Food & Beverage department at a hotel; or a 2-year college degree with at least 2 years of experience in a Rooms or Food & Beverage department at a hotel.

Previous supervisory experience is required.

Proficiency in Windows Operating Systems is essential. Ability to evaluate and select among alternative courses of action quickly and accurately is necessary.

Must perform well in high-pressure situations and maintain composure and objectivity under stress. Effectiveness in addressing workplace issues, including anticipating, preventing, identifying, and resolving problems, is crucial.

Ability to assimilate complex information from various sources and adjust to meet specific needs is required. Strong listening, understanding, clarifying, and resolving skills for concerns raised by co-workers and guests are essential.

Must be capable of working with financial data and basic arithmetic functions, as well as conveying information and ideas clearly.

Key Responsibilities:

Approach all interactions with guests and employees in a friendly, courteous, and service-oriented manner.

Maintain regular attendance in accordance with Aimbridge Hospitality standards, which will vary based on hotel needs.

Uphold high standards of personal appearance and grooming, including compliance with Aimbridge Hospitality's dress code and wearing a nametag while on duty.

Ensure adherence to Aimbridge Hospitality standards and regulations to promote safe and efficient hotel operations.

Comply with certification requirements relevant to the position, including Food Handlers, Alcohol Awareness, CPR, and First Aid.

In the absence of the General Manager, oversee and support the Engineering and Housekeeping departments to ensure the hotel's efficient operation.

Utilize competencies from Aimbridge & Brand training materials to enhance personal development across all operational departments.

Collaborate with Department Heads to gain a comprehensive understanding of each role and its impact on hotel operations.

Assist in fostering an environment where employees feel empowered to make decisions that enhance guest satisfaction. Follow up on empowerment successes and opportunities with the relevant Department Head.

As needed, assist the General Manager in preparing financial reports required by the Corporate Office and meet all imposed deadlines.

Participate in required Manager on Duty coverage as scheduled. Ensure that training in service standards is conducted in each department using effective training methods.

Assist the General Manager in recruiting, hiring, and training for Guest Services based on occupancy levels. Participate in weekly meetings with Front Desk to address oversell settings and respond accordingly.

Help create a positive, team-oriented environment that prioritizes guest experience through employee development and motivation.

Assist the Department Head or General Manager in maintaining compliance with Preventative Maintenance and Deep Cleaning Programs through regular inspections of rooms with the Housekeeping Manager and Property Engineer.

Ensure that all employees consistently demonstrate attentiveness, friendliness, courtesy, and efficiency in their interactions with guests, management, and fellow employees.

Familiarize yourself with Standard Operating Procedures (S.O.P.'s) across all Operations departments. Maintain professional relationships and promote open communication with managers, employees, and other departments.

Ensure fair and equitable treatment of all employees in accordance with Aimbridge Hospitality S.O.P.'s. Complete required corporate training modules and obtain certification to train others as necessary.

Generally, promotional opportunities may require relocation to another property. Be present in public areas during peak times to greet guests and offer assistance as needed.

Maintain procedures for handling the hotel safe, particularly regarding security. Attend all scheduled meetings that occur on the property during your shifts.
