Job Overview:

The Operations Supervisor will work under the guidance of a Department Head or General Manager. This role primarily involves overseeing daily operational activities and managing team members in their respective tasks. Additional responsibilities may be assigned based on business needs and career development opportunities. The individual will ensure guest satisfaction and the smooth functioning of the hotel by supervising various operational departments when the General Manager or Manager on Duty is unavailable. The Operations Supervisor will assist in driving hotel profitability through effective revenue management, cost control, guest satisfaction, and associate development.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 3 years of progressive experience in a Rooms or Food & Beverage department within a hotel; or a 4-year degree with 1 to 2 years of relevant experience; or a 2-year degree with 2 years of experience in a Rooms or Food & Beverage department.
  • Previous leadership experience is essential.
  • Proficiency in Windows Operating Systems is required.
  • Ability to quickly and accurately evaluate and choose among various courses of action.
  • Capability to perform well in high-pressure situations.
  • Maintain composure and objectivity under stress.
  • Effectively manage workplace issues, including anticipating, preventing, identifying, and resolving problems.
  • Ability to assimilate complex information from various sources and adjust as necessary.
  • Strong listening skills to understand and resolve concerns raised by colleagues and guests.
  • Competence in working with financial data and basic arithmetic functions.
  • Clear communication skills to convey information and ideas effectively.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Engage with guests and employees in a friendly, attentive, and service-oriented manner.
  • Maintain regular attendance in accordance with company standards, which may vary based on hotel needs.
  • Uphold high standards of personal appearance and grooming, including adherence to the dress code.
  • Ensure compliance with company standards and regulations to promote safe and efficient hotel operations.
  • Fulfill certification requirements relevant to the position, including Food Handlers, Alcohol Awareness, CPR, and First Aid.
  • In the absence of the General Manager, oversee the efficient operation of the hotel by supervising Engineering and Housekeeping departments.
  • Foster an environment where employees feel empowered to make decisions that enhance guest satisfaction.
  • Assist the General Manager in preparing financial reports as required, meeting all deadlines.
  • Participate in scheduled Manager on Duty coverage.
  • Ensure training in service standards occurs in each department.
  • Support the General Manager in recruiting, hiring, and training Guest Services staff as needed.
  • Participate in weekly meetings with Front Desk to manage oversell settings effectively.
  • Contribute to a positive, team-oriented environment focused on guest satisfaction through employee development.
  • Assist in maintaining compliance with Preventative Maintenance and Deep Cleaning Programs through regular inspections.
  • Ensure all employees are consistently attentive, friendly, courteous, and efficient in their interactions.
  • Familiarize oneself with Standard Operating Procedures across all Operations departments.
  • Maintain professional relationships and open communication with managers, employees, and other departments.
  • Ensure fair and equitable treatment of all employees according to company policies.
  • Complete required corporate training modules and become certified to train others as necessary.
  • Be present in public areas during peak times to greet guests and offer assistance.
  • Adhere to procedures for handling hotel safe security.
  • Attend all scheduled meetings that occur on the property during your shift.
