This individual will be responsible for delivering exceptional customer service to the Bethel community by ensuring the cleanliness and maintenance of the College Academic buildings.

Key Responsibilities
  • Leadership and Team Management
    • Lead the team in delivering excellent customer service in all aspects of the job.
    • Hold the team accountable to serve customers well.
  • Custodial Operations
    • Supervise staff and student workers, as well as contract cleaners assigned to the shift, in completing daily Building Service tasks.
    • Prioritize, schedule, and assign tasks to 2nd shift staff custodians.
  • Communication and Collaboration
    • Meet regularly with manager and other custodial supervisors to discuss communication, planning, training, scheduling, and prioritizing workloads.
    • Assist manager in the hiring and training of staff custodians, and in resolving performance or behavioral concerns among the team.
  • Facilities Maintenance
    • Lead the custodial shift staff in cleaning and maintaining 3900 academic buildings for users according to standards set by Facilities Mgmt. manager.
    • Prioritize the cleaning of high-traffic, high-visibility spaces for the guest and student experience.
  • Efficiency and Effectiveness
    • Ensure the efficient and effective use of staff time, equipment, and resources by setting the pace of work and the use of necessary tools in order to meet established work schedules and deadlines.
    • Evaluate and make recommendations for equipment, cleaning methods and supplies, and work performance standards to ensure a more effective and efficient cleaning program.
  • Event Support
    • Coordinate with manager and works proactively with custodial shift staff to set up furniture for all events in and around the 3900 academic complex.
    • Ensure excellent customer service by conducting regular sweeps of event spaces throughout the event to ensure standards of cleanliness are met.
  • Additional Responsibilities
    • Support the Bethel community through completing work orders, responding to custodial emergencies, and completing assigned tasks and projects in a timely manner.
Requirements
  • Experience
    • Minimum of 3 years custodial related experience.
  • Skills
    • Working knowledge of swing machines, floor scrubbers and vacuums.
    • Strong customer orientation and commitment to building a team that provides superior service to Bethel and the local community.
  • Education
    • High school degree.
  • Physical Demands
    • Ability to lift 50 lbs.
    • Working in and around chemicals.
  • Work Schedule
    • 40 hours per week, overtime as needed.
