Position Overview

The mission of Youth Emergency Services (YES) is to provide essential resources to homeless and at-risk youth, empowering them towards self-sufficiency. Through trauma-informed support, YES enhances the leadership and employment readiness of youth while collaborating with them to advocate for systemic change.

Compensation: Starting at $46,500 annually

Work Schedule: Full-time - Monday to Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM

Key Responsibilities:

  • Overseeing the daily operations of the outreach center, ensuring adherence to established processes.
  • Managing staff schedules to guarantee adequate coverage.
  • Evaluating the immediate needs of youth and providing essential services, including food, hygiene products, and clothing.
  • Exhibiting knowledge of community resources available to youth facing homelessness.
  • Documenting all interactions with youth, including timely reporting of significant issues to the Director of Operations.
  • Identifying the need for safe place sites within the community and recruiting businesses to participate, while training staff on Safe Place protocols.
  • Collaborating with the development team to schedule presentations at local schools and venues to inform students about the Safe Place program and available services.
  • Maintaining essential records for evaluation and statistical reporting, submitting required data promptly.
  • Participating in meetings, conferences, and training sessions as directed.
  • Collecting necessary data for outreach efforts and entering it weekly.
  • Fostering positive partnerships within the community.
  • Demonstrating effective crisis intervention and problem-solving skills in delivering basic services to youth.
  • Performing additional duties as assigned by supervisory staff.

Qualifications:

  • Must be at least twenty-one years of age.
  • Regular on-site attendance is mandatory.
  • Knowledge of child and adolescent development, along with issues affecting homeless youth and families.
  • Experience in case management.
  • Respect and acceptance of diverse populations.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to build and maintain relationships with youth, families, staff, and law enforcement.
  • Valid driver's license, current auto insurance, and capability to transport program youth as necessary.
  • Willingness to work non-traditional hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
  • Ability to perform minor to moderate lifting.
  • Completion of a thorough criminal history and background investigation.

Education:

  • Preferred: Associate or bachelor's degree in human services, behavioral sciences, or a related field. Relevant experience and training may substitute for formal education.
