Position Summary:

We are looking for a skilled and knowledgeable Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) Manager to oversee our EHS programs at our manufacturing facility. The successful candidate will play a vital role in ensuring adherence to all relevant environmental, health, and safety regulations while cultivating a culture that emphasizes safety and environmental stewardship.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement the plant's EHS management systems in alignment with the overall EHS strategy.
  • Manage the budget for EHS initiatives, seeking cost-effective solutions without compromising the quality of safety programs.
  • Oversee the plant's safety audit process, ensuring timely execution and effective use of data for continuous improvement.
  • Track and report on EHS performance metrics to assess compliance and drive enhancements.
  • Assist in creating and maintaining site-specific EHS policies and procedures, ensuring they are effectively communicated and adhered to.
  • Handle all EHS-related incidents, including investigations, corrective actions, and necessary documentation.
  • Collaborate with HR to maintain an understanding of work-related injuries and the workers' compensation process.
  • Ensure all material safety data sheets (MSDS) are current and accessible to employees.
  • Maintain records related to employee industrial hygiene monitoring.
  • Design and distribute safety training materials for various formats, including daily meetings and formal training sessions.
  • Establish an annual training schedule based on departmental needs.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable safety and environmental regulations to protect employees and the organization.
  • Maintain compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, including OSHA, EPA, and DOT standards.

Qualifications:

A bachelor's degree in occupational safety and health, environmental science, engineering, or a related field is required. Relevant certifications such as ASP, OHST, CSP, QEP, or CIH are preferred, along with expertise in Human Operation Performance (HOP), Industrial Hygiene, Ergonomics, and EHS management systems.

Required Skills:

  • A minimum of five years of experience in EHS within a manufacturing context, with a strong background in incident investigation and hazard assessments.
  • In-depth knowledge of regulatory standards, including OSHA, EPA, and DOT.
  • Ability to engage positively with plant personnel to promote a favorable perception of the EHS department.
  • Support the HR Manager in onboarding new employees regarding safety protocols and programs.
  • Strong analytical skills with a focus on data and financial analysis.
  • Familiarity with Lean and Quality Management principles.
  • Ensure timely submission of all required reports to corporate EHS and regulatory agencies.
