Position Overview

Role Summary:
The Facilities Maintenance Engineer is tasked with the operation, upkeep, and performance of technical work on physical plant facilities. This includes managing electro-magnetic controls, pneumatic systems, HVAC systems, overhead doors, water coolers, refrigeration, plumbing, and life safety and security equipment. This role requires a commitment to high standards of customer service, independent judgment, and professionalism.

Work Environment:
This position is exclusively on-site.

Compensation:
The anticipated hourly wage for this role is $34.40, contingent upon qualifications.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Operate and conduct preventive maintenance on mechanical systems.
  • Interpret blueprints and electrical diagrams to identify issues.
  • Troubleshoot and repair various systems including HVAC, pneumatic, and refrigeration.
  • Perform welding, soldering, and brazing as necessary.
  • Modify or replace mechanical components such as pumps, motors, and valves.
  • Maintain cleanliness in mechanical spaces and ensure proper functioning of air and water systems.
  • Document time and materials used, and manage inventory of supplies.
  • Conduct inspections of facilities and equipment, reporting any findings.
  • Install cabling for sensors and controls as needed.
Working Conditions:
This role involves both indoor and outdoor work, with potential exposure to various environmental factors.

Qualifications:
Minimum Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent.

Experience:
At least two years of experience in building operations maintenance, particularly with large systems.

Licenses/Certifications:
Must possess and maintain a Class 2-C or higher MN Boiler Engineer License and a valid driver’s license.

Equivalency:
An equivalent combination of education and experience closely related to the duties of the position may be considered.

A criminal background check may be required for this position.

Drug/Alcohol Testing:
All applicants must pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol test and medical examination after a conditional offer of employment.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
• Familiarity with HVAC and mechanical system repair and maintenance.
• Strong understanding of heating and air conditioning systems.
• Proficient in building automation and preventive maintenance systems.
• Knowledge of tools and methods used in mechanical operation and maintenance.
• Ability to read blueprints and schematics for effective maintenance and repair work.
