Position Overview

American Water is seeking a Full-Time Legal Compliance Analyst. This role is ideal for individuals with strong organizational and analytical skills who are eager to advance their careers in compliance and ethics.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the Compliance and Ethics Department in managing investigations related to the Code of Ethics.
  • Conduct data analysis to assess participation and effectiveness of compliance initiatives, including annual training programs and data privacy measures.
  • Assist the Chief Compliance Officer and Director of Corporate Compliance with data management and reporting tasks.
  • Participate in investigations by collaborating with legal counsel, reviewing evidence, and summarizing findings.
  • Generate reports on data collected from various compliance activities, ensuring accurate documentation.
  • Communicate investigation statuses and findings to relevant stakeholders.
  • Contribute to the development and editing of training materials for compliance programs.
  • Assist with various compliance initiatives, including policy updates and monitoring team communications.
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite and data analytics tools, particularly advanced Excel.
  • Strong analytical skills to identify relevant evidence and draw informed conclusions.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Ability to build effective partnerships across various departments.
  • Project management skills to handle multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Demonstrated judgment and follow-through on tasks.
Experience and Education
  • A minimum of 3 years of relevant experience is required.
  • Utility industry experience is preferred.
  • An Associate Degree is preferred, or equivalent work experience; a Bachelor's Degree is also preferred.
Work Environment

This position is based in an indoor office environment with a hybrid work schedule, allowing for a combination of in-office and remote work.
