Job Summary:

This position is a senior-level accounting role responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the financial reporting process at BHMC-Little Rock. Key responsibilities include:

  • Posting journal entries and reviewing financial statement variances to ensure accuracy and compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
  • Preparing balance sheet reconciliations and producing supporting schedules/analytics to inform business decisions
  • Performing research and analysis to identify areas for process improvement and cost savings
  • Assisting with the production of monthly financials and key metrics information
  • Maintaining the general ledger chart of accounts, including assessing requests for new cost centers/accounts and setting up new departments and accounts as approved
  • Collaborating with management to prepare forecasts and budgets
  • Supporting external audits and mandatory reporting, including financial audit, tax/governmental reporting, and surveys

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting (or equivalent) required; Master's degree and Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certification preferred
  • Minimum 3 years of public accounting experience or 5 years of non-public accounting experience in an accounting role; relevant experience and education/certification will be considered
  • Experience in the healthcare industry highly preferred
  • Ability to multitask and work independently and as part of a team
  • Willingness to train and mentor staff accountants
  • Advanced knowledge of Excel functions required
