Senior Resource Association (SRA) is a recognized 501 (c)(3) non-profit entity dedicated to enhancing the independence and dignity of older adults in Indian River County. Established in 1974, SRA offers a variety of services and programs aimed at fostering an active, healthy, and independent lifestyle for seniors. Our organization manages essential programs such as Meals on Wheels, Adult DayAway, In-Home Services, and Transportation, ensuring that seniors can remain in their homes as long as safely possible.

SRA also serves as the designated public transportation provider for the county, operating fixed-route buses across multiple routes and offering demand-response services for the elderly and disabled.

Primary Function: The Community Events Manager is tasked with the planning, coordination, and execution of non-fundraising special events that align with our mission. This role encompasses community engagement initiatives, staff functions, and other events designed to strengthen community relations and enhance organizational culture. The Community Events Manager also supports the management of key fundraising events.

Principal Responsibilities: The following are examples of the responsibilities associated with this position. Management retains the right to modify work assignments as necessary.

  • Develop, organize, and implement non-fundraising events that encourage community involvement and support the organization's mission.
  • Collaborate with HR to coordinate staff events that promote employee engagement and foster a positive organizational culture.
  • Manage community-focused events, ensuring effective collaboration with the Community Outreach Manager.
  • Oversee logistics for concerts and associated receptions, working closely with the Volunteer Manager.
  • Coordinate volunteer appreciation initiatives in partnership with the Volunteer Manager to recognize and enhance volunteer contributions.
  • Work alongside the Marketing & Events Director to conceptualize and promote event themes and strategies.
  • Handle event logistics, including venue selection, vendor coordination, catering, and guest list management.
  • Manage the silent auction for fundraising events, ensuring a successful outcome.
  • Coordinate sponsorships and logistics for annual tournaments, ensuring timely execution.
  • Maintain accurate records of in-kind donations and manage RSVPs for fundraising events.
  • Collaborate with marketing teams to promote events through various communication channels.
  • Keep detailed records of event plans, budgets, and outcomes for future reference.
  • Conduct evaluations post-events to assess success and identify areas for improvement.
  • Stay updated on industry best practices and trends in event planning and management.
  • Uphold the confidentiality of all event participants and organizational information.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Abilities, and Skills:

  • Comprehensive understanding of event planning and management principles, particularly in a non-profit context.
  • Exceptional organizational and project management capabilities, with the ability to juggle multiple events concurrently.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with a collaborative approach to teamwork.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Meticulous attention to detail and adept problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to handle sensitive information discreetly and maintain confidentiality.
  • Familiarity with donor management systems is advantageous.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Event Management, Non-Profit Management, Hospitality, Public Relations, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in successfully planning and executing events, preferably in a non-profit setting.
  • Experience with community engagement and fundraising is preferred.

Other Job Characteristics:

  • Work is conducted in both office and event settings.
  • Use of computers and standard office equipment is required.
  • Minimal travel may be necessary as part of the role.

License/Certifications:

  • A valid driver's license is required.

Pay Range: $19.95-$25.96 / Hourly, Non-Exempt
