Position Title: Aircraft Mechanic Helper

Location: Huntsville, Alabama

Employment Type: Contract with potential for conversion to permanent status.

Work Hours: Standard schedule is Monday to Friday, from 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM, subject to operational needs.

Role Summary:

The Aircraft Mechanic Helper will assist in the maintenance of aircraft under the guidance of a certified A&P mechanic. Responsibilities include conducting maintenance, preventative checks, inspections, repairs, and modifications on civil registered aircraft. The role involves tasks such as disassembling, cleaning, and preparing aircraft components. The Aircraft Mechanic Helper will collaborate closely with experienced personnel to carry out various routine assignments.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support the disassembly of aircraft or significant components for maintenance, refurbishment, or upgrades.
  • Perform essential tasks including supplying materials, tools, and equipment to mechanics; assisting in positioning materials during operations; and maintaining cleanliness of workspaces and tools.
  • Observe maintenance procedures and, after receiving proper training, select appropriate tools and materials to aid in the repair of aircraft structures or systems.
  • Utilize OEM manuals, blueprints, and approved technical documentation to comprehend component functions and collaborate with senior staff on work planning and execution.
  • Clean aircraft interiors and exteriors, as well as parts and assemblies, using appropriate solvents and cleaning agents as per OEM guidelines.
  • Execute additional tasks as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Basic computer proficiency is required.
  • Ability to operate various hand and power tools, including wrenches, screwdrivers, torque wrenches, and measuring instruments.
  • Prior experience or on-the-job training is typically necessary to ensure safe and effective tool usage.
  • A&P certification is preferred but not mandatory.
  • Military experience may be considered.
  • With adequate training, the individual must develop the ability to interpret and apply technical manuals, blueprints, and related documentation.
  • Adherence to safety protocols relevant to the trade is essential.
  • Knowledge of hazardous materials handling and safety procedures is required, including the use of protective equipment.
Physical Demands:

This position requires the ability to perform essential functions, including frequent talking and hearing, standing, walking, and using hands for handling tools and materials. The employee may occasionally need to sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The role involves lifting and moving items weighing up to 50 pounds regularly and up to 75 pounds occasionally. Vision requirements include close, distance, color, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment:

While fulfilling job responsibilities, the employee may be exposed to fumes, airborne particles, moving mechanical parts, and vibrations. Occasional exposure to extreme weather conditions may occur, and the noise level in the workplace can be elevated.

Travel Requirements:

Occasional travel may be necessary to support the company's customer base, primarily local during business hours, with some potential for out-of-area and overnight travel.

Compensation:

Salary is negotiable based on experience.
