Role Summary:

The Aircraft Mechanic Helper is responsible for assisting in the maintenance of aircraft under the guidance of a certified A&P mechanic. Key responsibilities include conducting maintenance, preventative checks, inspections, repairs, and modifications on civil registered aircraft. The role involves various tasks such as disassembling, cleaning, and preparing aircraft components.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support the disassembly of aircraft or major components for maintenance, overhaul, or modifications.
  • Perform essential tasks such as providing materials, tools, and supplies to mechanics; assisting in holding materials during operations; and maintaining cleanliness of work areas and equipment.
  • Observe and learn work processes, selecting appropriate tools and supplies to aid in the repair of major components or aircraft systems.
  • Utilize OEM manuals, blueprints, and approved technical data to comprehend the functions of parts and collaborate with senior personnel on work planning.
  • Clean aircraft and its components using solvents or cleaning solutions in accordance with OEM guidelines.
  • Execute additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Basic computer proficiency is required.
  • Ability to operate hand and power tools, including pliers, wrenches, screwdrivers, and measuring instruments.
  • Ability to remember and follow detailed instructions and sequences.
  • Prior experience or training is typically necessary to effectively use tools and perform assigned duties safely.
  • A&P certification is preferred but not mandatory.
  • Military experience may be considered.
  • Must be able to read and apply technical manuals, blueprints, and other related documentation.
  • Familiarity with safety procedures relevant to the trade is essential.
  • Knowledge of hazardous materials and safety protocols, including the use of protective gear, is required.
Physical Requirements:

The physical demands of this position include regular communication, frequent standing, walking, and the use of hands for handling tools and materials. The role may also require occasional sitting, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, or crawling. Employees must be able to lift and move items weighing up to 50 pounds regularly and up to 75 pounds occasionally. Vision requirements include close, distance, color, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment:

This position involves exposure to fumes, airborne particles, moving mechanical parts, and vibrations. Employees may encounter various weather conditions and loud noise levels in the work environment.

Travel Requirements:

Occasional travel may be necessary to support the company's customer base, primarily local during business hours, with some potential for out-of-area and overnight travel.

Salary: Negotiable based on experience.
