About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Construction Inspector - Communications and Signals to join our team at SEPTA. As a key member of our Maintenance of Way/Communications and Signals department, you will be responsible for ensuring the quality and safety of our construction projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct thorough inspections of construction sites to ensure compliance with contract requirements and safety standards.
  • Monitor and coordinate force account support for contractors' work, ensuring timely and efficient completion of projects.
  • Develop and maintain a thorough understanding of SEPTA's policies, procedures, and regulations related to construction and maintenance.
  • Collaborate with contractors, engineers, and other stakeholders to resolve issues and ensure project success.
  • Investigate and evaluate requests for new contract services or change orders, providing recommendations to management.
  • Analyze and interpret contract documents, identifying potential risks and opportunities for improvement.
  • Develop and implement quality assurance and control measures to ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.
  • Provide training and guidance to junior staff members on construction and maintenance procedures.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry developments and best practices, applying this knowledge to improve SEPTA's construction and maintenance operations.
Requirements
  • High school graduate with at least 10 years of experience in transit maintenance or construction, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Strong understanding of construction quality assurance and third-party service contract administration practices.
  • NICET Level II Certification or equivalent experience.
  • Valid driver's license.
