Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Transportation Construction Inspector Supervisor to join our dynamic team at Johnson, Mirmiran & Thompson. As a key member of our Construction Management Team, you will be responsible for overseeing the inspection of highway and bridge projects throughout Southeastern Pennsylvania.

Key Responsibilities
  • Review and interpret plans, site layouts, specifications, and construction methods to ensure compliance with legal requirements and safety regulations.
  • Perform routine tests on concrete, soils, and other materials.
  • Measure dimensions and verify level, alignment, and elevation of structures, fixtures, grades, and/or pavement to ensure compliance with plans and codes.
  • Coordinate and supervise project inspection activities to ensure contractor compliance with plans, contract documents, specifications, and standards.
  • Assign, schedule, and maintain subordinate inspection staff throughout all phases of the project.
  • Work on behalf of the client to draft project correspondence, facilitate project meetings, and resolve construction-related field issues.
  • Gather and maintain record documents.
  • Make field notes and computations.
  • Interact with the general public, government agencies, contractors, subcontractors, and other internal and external parties to respond to inquiries.
Requirements
  • Client-requested certifications, including NICET Level 2 or higher in Transportation/Highway Construction, NECEPT-Bituminous and Concrete Field Technician, and ACI Concrete Field Testing Technician.
  • Strong computer proficiency.
  • Active driver's license.
  • High school diploma or equivalent (may be substituted for experience).
  • 4+ years of construction inspection experience.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Associate's or bachelor's degree in Construction Management or Civil Engineering.
  • Supervisory experience in construction management/inspection situations.
  • Ability to act in an Owner's Agent/Responsible in Charge role.
  • CDS NeXtGen and/or ECMS Wave 5 certification or experience.
Working Conditions

The work is performed in the field, and the ability to extensively perform bending, kneeling, standing, shoveling, and lifting and carrying objects weighing up to 25 lbs as needed. The work may be conducted outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions.
