About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Construction Materials Field Technician/Inspector to join our team at Hillis-Carnes Engineering Associates. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in ensuring the quality and integrity of construction materials used in various land development and construction projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct field observations at construction sites to monitor the quality of materials and ensure compliance with industry standards.
  • Collect and test construction materials, including soil, aggregates, concrete, grout, masonry, asphalt, and structural steel.
  • Prepare accurate and detailed daily logs documenting your inspections and test results.
  • Communicate effectively with project managers and operations staff to ensure seamless project execution.
Requirements
  • Reliable vehicle for field work and a valid driver's license.
  • Ability to lift and move up to 60-80 pounds of materials and equipment.
  • Capacity to work in various outdoor climates and navigate different terrain.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to quality, with a focus on safety protocols.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in using company-provided tablets and MS Office programs.
  • Basic math skills and ability to use measurement tools.
  • Ability to read and interpret plans, specifications, safety guidelines, and operating instructions.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience as a construction materials testing technician or inspector.
  • Verifiable certifications such as ACI, NICET, WACEL, etc.
