ROLE SUMMARY

This is a non-supervisory role where the incumbent will manage a designated caseload related to leased housing, which may vary annually. The primary responsibility is to ensure the precise and timely processing of all information pertaining to applicants and residents within both leased housing and public housing programs. Key duties include managing waitlists, scheduling, determining eligibility, lease-up processes, and file organization for both program types. The incumbent will also participate actively in the Emergency Review Committee and conduct necessary inspections and home visits for public housing screening.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Conduct interviews with applicants and residents to collect information regarding eligibility and lease-up.
  • Verify eligibility information for recertification and rent calculations.
  • Accurately assess participant rents in compliance with established guidelines.
  • Prepare necessary leases, contracts, and documentation.
  • Process rent adjustments by evaluating rent reasonableness and implementing changes in the system.
  • Execute annual and interim recertifications promptly within the leased housing programs and as required in Public Housing.
  • Manage personal scheduling effectively.
  • Track inspections, certifications, and vacancies within public housing.
  • Compile ineligibility reports as necessary.
  • Maintain comprehensive paper files for various programs with distinct requirements.
  • Stay informed about program regulations and CHA policies to fulfill responsibilities efficiently.
  • Adhere to regulatory standards and internal policies.
  • Communicate effectively about the various programs administered within the department.
  • Attend departmental meetings to discuss workloads, quality control, and policy updates.
  • Actively participate in the Emergency Review Committee, including case presentations and recommendations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Proficient in computer and word processing applications.
  • Ability to utilize spreadsheet software.
  • Strong organizational skills with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Capable of performing accurate mathematical calculations.
  • Skilled in preparing detailed reports regarding ineligibility and emergency status denials.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to comprehend procedures and assist others in understanding them.
  • Team-oriented mindset.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS

A minimum of a High School Diploma or GED, supplemented by two years of college, business, or technical education, or three years of progressively responsible related experience. Previous experience in a similar environment is preferred. Experience interacting with the public, particularly low-income individuals, those with disabilities, or elderly populations is advantageous. Familiarity with the Housing Choice Voucher Program or Public Housing is a plus, but not mandatory. Proficiency in additional languages is preferred.
