Job Overview

Southland Holdings is seeking a skilled Quality Control Manager with expertise in Concrete and Water/Wastewater Treatment Plant operations. This role is essential for developing quality inspection protocols and procedures that align with company standards.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate effectively with the Project Manager and Superintendent on quality control and assurance matters.
  • Evaluate and interpret submittals, RFIs, and other project-related documents while ensuring adherence to established documentation controls.
  • Analyze contract documents and engage with the project team for clarity and compliance.
  • Design and implement quality inspection programs that fulfill both company and client expectations.
  • Oversee the deployment of a quality management system across various projects, including water system planning, hydraulic modeling, and water quality assessments.
  • Manage the monitoring and evaluation processes to ensure compliance with quality management standards.
  • Provide direction to team members within the framework of established policies.
  • Propose policy modifications and establish procedures impacting the immediate team.
  • Address diverse issues requiring comprehensive analysis of various factors, including current business trends.
  • Act as a mentor to team members to ensure project timelines are met and technical challenges are resolved.
  • Coordinate departmental activities with accountability for outcomes, which may include oversight of functional areas without direct reports.

Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 5 to 10 years of experience in Quality Control Management, preferably on government projects.
  • At least 5 years of experience in Water and/or Wastewater projects, with 2 years in a leadership role preferred.
  • Commitment to maintaining a drug-free workplace and compliance with post-offer drug testing.
  • Adherence to safety protocols to minimize OSHA recordable incidents.
  • Willingness to travel to various job sites as needed.
  • Strong ability to read, analyze, and interpret business publications, technical documents, and regulatory guidelines.
  • Proficient in spreadsheet and word processing software, with the ability to learn design software.
  • Mathematical proficiency related to structural engineering concepts and calculations.
  • Experience in supervising Field Engineers and/or QA/QC Engineers may be required.

Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) plus 10 years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Preferred: 10+ years of experience in Municipal Water and/or Wastewater projects, with at least 2 years in a leadership capacity.
  • Experience with projects involving Water & Wastewater Treatment Plants, Pump Stations, and related infrastructure.
