Southland Holdings is seeking a skilled Quality Control Manager with expertise in Concrete and Water/Wastewater Treatment Plant operations. This role is pivotal in creating quality inspection protocols and methodologies that align with organizational standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate effectively with the Project Manager and Superintendent on all QC/QA related matters.
- Evaluate and scrutinize submittals, RFIs, and other contractual documents while ensuring adherence to established project and company documentation protocols.
- Interpret and analyze contract documents, facilitating discussions with the project team.
- Develop and implement quality inspection programs that meet both company and client expectations.
- Oversee the systematic application of a quality management system across various projects, including water system master plans, hydraulic distribution modeling, and water quality assessments.
- Manage the monitoring and evaluation processes to confirm compliance with quality management systems, ensuring that documentation is accurately maintained.
- Provide direction to team members within the framework of established policies.
- Advise on policy modifications and establish procedures impacting the immediate organization.
- Address diverse issues requiring analytical evaluation of various factors, including current business trends.
- Serve as a mentor to subordinates to meet deadlines and resolve technical challenges, with potential budget oversight.
- Coordinate departmental activities, holding responsibility for outcomes, which may include functional areas without direct reports.
Qualifications:
- A minimum of 5 to 10 years of experience as a Quality Control Manager on government projects is preferred.
- At least 5 years of experience in Water and/or Wastewater projects, with 2 years in a leadership role preferred.
- Commitment to a drug-free workplace and compliance with post-offer drug testing.
- Adherence to safety protocols to minimize OSHA recordable incidents.
- Willingness to travel to various job sites as needed.
- Proficient in reading, analyzing, and interpreting business publications, technical manuals, and regulatory guidelines. Strong report writing and presentation skills are essential.
- Familiarity with spreadsheet and word processing software, along with database reporting tools. Ability to learn design software is required.
- Understanding of mathematical concepts related to structural engineering and practical applications of fractions, percentages, and ratios.
- Experience in directing Field Engineers and/or QA/QC Engineers may be required.
Education and Experience:
- BA/BS degree plus 10 years of relevant experience or a demonstrated equivalency of education and experience.
- Preferred: 10+ years of experience in Municipal Water and/or Wastewater projects with at least 2 years in a leadership capacity.
- Experience with Water & Wastewater Treatment Plants, Pump Stations, and related infrastructure projects is advantageous.
