Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct initial inbound quality inspections and relay findings across departments as necessary.
- Assist the Production team with work orders.
- Evaluate products returned by customers and determine appropriate actions such as donation, composting, or reintegration into inventory.
- Identify products suitable for community food program donations and coordinate their shipment through designated vendors.
- Provide sample products to colleagues for educational purposes and to foster a passion for produce.
- Assess in-house inventory quality and update relevant systems accordingly.
- Collect, store, and ensure the proper disposal/recycling of inbound temperature recorders.
- Proactively identify areas for improvement and facilitate Continuous Improvement (CI) processes to enhance product and service quality.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of two years of experience in commercial produce or a combination of equivalent experience.
- Experience in quality control.
- Strong analytical skills with meticulous attention to detail and the ability to maintain focus for extended periods.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team setting.
- Capacity to adapt quickly and efficiently to changing tasks.
- Effective time management skills to prioritize daily tasks and communications.
Preferred Skills:
- Understanding of sustainable business practices.
- Familiarity with USDA training and standards.
- Knowledge of safe warehouse operating procedures.
Physical Requirements:
This role requires the ability to stand for prolonged periods and lift up to 50 pounds regularly. Candidates must be able to work in a cold and damp environment for extended durations. The position involves standing, stooping, and bending, as well as frequent data entry on a computer. Effective communication skills are essential for maintaining and enhancing relationships. The ability to fulfill the above requirements with or without reasonable accommodation is necessary.
