Position Overview:
The Senior Accounting Manager will oversee a high-performing team dedicated to the accurate recognition and distribution of volume allowances within Compass Group. This role is crucial in maintaining financial integrity and supporting the organization's objectives.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage and inspire a team focused on the precise recognition and allocation of purchasing volume allowances through detailed analysis and quality assurance.
  • Provide opportunities for professional development and constructive feedback, fostering an environment of open communication.
  • Build and maintain relationships with business partners across Foodbuy and the broader Compass organization, proactively addressing challenges to meet business needs.
  • Act as a liaison between Foodbuy Accounting and Technical Accounting to ensure compliance with income recognition and contractual obligations.
  • Strive for excellence in accounting by ensuring timely and accurate monthly financial reports and adherence to accounting controls.
  • Drive process automation and improvements within Foodbuy Accounting, promoting a culture of positive change and high morale among team members.
  • Encourage team members to take initiative in process enhancements and manage special projects as directed by senior management.
  • Serve as the primary contact for external audits, overseeing inquiries and deliverables.
  • Oversee the Foodbuy Accounting balance sheet, including monthly reviews and reporting to corporate.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required; MBA is a plus.
  • CPA certification or candidacy preferred.
  • 8+ years of accounting experience, with a minimum of 3 years in supplier/customer contract accounting.
  • 4+ years of management experience.
  • Proficient in Office 365 applications (Excel, Power BI, SharePoint preferred).
  • Experience with SAP and Essbase/Hyperion is advantageous.
  • Experience in a large organization (sales exceeding $3 billion preferred).

  • Strong accounting knowledge and analytical capabilities.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and experience in managing large data sets.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage projects in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Exceptional interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Proven integrity and a commitment to delivering effective solutions.
  • Hands-on experience with process improvement methodologies and project management is preferred.
  • Ability to implement a departmental vision and lead a team towards achieving that vision.
  • Food industry experience is a plus.
  • Demonstrated success in developing team members through empowerment and support.
