Position: Plumbing Project Manager

Role Overview: The Plumbing Project Manager is tasked with overseeing the planning, direction, coordination, and financial reporting related to construction or maintenance projects. This role involves participating in the initial development of projects and managing their organization, scheduling, and execution.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with Superintendents, Foremen, Journeymen, and other Project Managers to strategize, organize, and lead project activities.
  • Set project goals, policies, procedures, and performance standards within the framework of company policies and contractual specifications. Engage with supervisors and union representatives to address work procedures, complaints, and challenges.
  • Represent the company in project meetings and participate in strategic discussions.
  • Oversee the procurement of materials and supplies necessary for project completion.
  • Interpret and clarify plans and contract terms for administrative staff, workers, and clients.
  • Generate reports on work progress, costs, and scheduling.
  • Work with engineers to create shop drawings based on architectural designs.
  • Maintain communication with customers and contractors throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Ensure projects adhere to established budgets and that products meet customer specifications.
  • Coordinate with the Superintendent and other departments to acquire necessary tools, materials, and equipment for project execution.
  • Partner with the Superintendent and Safety personnel to formulate project-specific safety plans.
  • Communicate the company's core safety values and project-specific safety requirements, goals, and objectives.
  • Develop project timelines in conjunction with the Superintendent, ensuring compliance with customer deadlines and milestones; implement tracking mechanisms to monitor schedule progress.
  • Work with the Superintendent to identify schedule variances and determine corrective actions.
  • Provide budget forecasts to customers and engage in budget meetings as necessary.
  • Create project budgets based on estimates and proposals, including detailed breakdowns by task and tracking units.
  • Monitor project costs and billing through regular reporting.
  • Prepare and distribute Requests for Proposals (RFPs) for subcontractors.
  • Evaluate subcontractor proposals for completeness and scope coverage.
  • Provide information to the Contract Administrator to finalize subcontract agreements, including scope, pricing, and customer-specific requirements.
  • Collaborate with the Superintendent to review and approve subcontractor schedules.
  • Maintain open lines of communication with customers regarding potential future projects.
  • Negotiate and approve changes to subcontract scopes in line with customer contract requirements.
  • Conduct unit breakdowns and complete take-offs.
  • Manage divisional Work in Progress (WIP) statistics and report these at monthly financial meetings.
  • Perform accurate project estimates.
  • Notify office staff when bonds, permits, or certifications are required for a project.
  • Develop and distribute subcontractor RFPs based on project scope and create a bid schedule.
  • Compile RFP deliverables for comprehensive bid packages, including safety, execution, quality, and environmental plans as required by the customer.
  • Participate in departmental meetings as requested.
  • Execute additional assignments as needed while maintaining a collaborative team spirit.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent is mandatory.
  • A Bachelor's degree in construction management or a related field is preferred.
  • A minimum of 5 years of project management or related experience is required.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting construction drawings and specifications.
  • Familiarity with relevant codes and standards governing design and operational requirements.
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to adapt to shifting priorities.
  • Capability to handle confidential information responsibly.
  • Organizational skills and the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
