Position Title: Plumbing Department Manager

Role Overview: The Plumbing Department Manager is accountable for providing operational and sales leadership within the plumbing division. This role ensures that the highest standards of customer service are maintained across all interactions, from sales to project execution and ongoing support.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the plumbing department by setting and managing departmental objectives that align with overall company goals.
  • Identify and pursue bidding opportunities through established client relationships, networking, and public/private postings.
  • Ensure that all project aspects are completed safely, within budget, and on schedule, while promoting safety practices among employees.
  • Monitor progress towards departmental goals and adjust strategies as necessary.
  • Supervise and mentor staff within the department, conducting performance reviews and fostering individual development.
  • Provide guidance in various areas, including mentoring, individual development plans, and goal setting.
  • Collaborate with Human Resources to address employee needs and support in a timely manner.
  • Identify opportunities for enhancing profit margins and manage the departmental budget, ensuring profitability.
  • Develop and implement growth strategies in conjunction with senior management to expand sales and the customer base.
  • Stay informed about market competition and adapt strategies accordingly.
  • Assist in preparing estimates and mentoring team members as needed, assigning bidding opportunities based on staff capabilities.
  • Report on work in progress and forecasting statistics during financial meetings.
  • Oversee field operations and provide guidance to field superintendents.
  • Foster strong communication between project managers and field leads by building good relationships with field staff.
  • Maintain positive relationships with existing clients and develop connections with potential clients.
  • Encourage a collaborative team environment and promote loyalty to the organization.
  • Participate in field activities and site visits as necessary.
  • Engage in company meetings as required.
  • Complete additional tasks as assigned while maintaining a cooperative attitude.
  • Adhere to all current policies, procedures, and programs.

Qualifications:

  • At least 5 years of experience in construction management.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Ability to interpret technical specifications and construction plans.
  • Comprehensive understanding of mechanical systems.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Capability to manage confidential information.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
