Position: Plumbing Department Manager

Role Overview: The Plumbing Department Manager is tasked with overseeing operational and sales leadership within the plumbing division. This role ensures the delivery of superior customer service across all stages, from sales and project execution to ongoing support.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide strategic leadership for the plumbing department, aligning departmental objectives with broader organizational goals.
  • Identify and pursue bidding opportunities through client engagement, networking, and public/private postings.
  • Ensure project execution adheres to safety standards, budget constraints, and timelines. Guide employees on safety protocols and hazard communication during the bidding process.
  • Monitor progress towards departmental goals and make necessary adjustments to execution strategies.
  • Supervise and mentor department staff, setting performance objectives and facilitating professional development.
  • Collaborate with Human Resources to address employee needs and support systems promptly.
  • Identify opportunities for profit enhancement and manage departmental budgets, maintaining accountability for profitability.
  • Develop and implement growth strategies in partnership with senior management, focusing on expanding sales and client relationships.
  • Stay informed about market competition and adapt strategies as necessary.
  • Assist in preparing estimates and mentor team members as needed, assigning bidding tasks based on staff capabilities.
  • Report on work in progress and forecasting metrics during financial meetings.
  • Oversee field operations and provide guidance to field superintendents.
  • Foster strong communication between project managers and field leads by building relationships with field staff.
  • Maintain and develop relationships with existing clients while establishing connections with potential clients.
  • Encourage a collaborative team environment and promote loyalty within the organization.
  • Participate in field activities and site visits as required.
  • Engage in company meetings and perform additional tasks as needed, maintaining a collaborative spirit.
  • Adhere to established policies, procedures, and programs.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in construction management.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Ability to interpret technical specifications and construction plans.
  • Comprehensive understanding of mechanical systems.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Capability to manage confidential information effectively.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks.
