Position Overview: Instructors for Workforce Development (WFD) are engaged to deliver educational content on an as-needed basis.

Essential Qualifications:

A Bachelor's degree in Secondary Education or a related discipline is required, along with a minimum of two years of experience in adult education.

Licensing Requirements:

Required Equipment:

It is expected that candidates selected for this position will supply their own technological equipment while performing their duties. This includes:
* A personal computer (Windows, Linux, or Macintosh) with an updated web browser (Firefox, Edge, Safari, Chrome)
* Reliable broadband internet access at all times during employment (DSL, 4G/LTE, FIOS, Satellite, or Cable)
* Communication tools for synchronous meetings, such as a USB headset, speakers, microphone, captioning services, adaptive technology, and assistive devices.

Compensation: $25.00 per hour

Preferred Qualifications: A valid Professional Secondary Teaching license is advantageous.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Exhibit expertise in teaching adult and non-traditional learners in high school equivalency exam (GED) content areas using effective contextualized and accelerated methods that emphasize college and career readiness.
  • Contribute to a collaborative instructional program model, including curriculum development, syllabus creation, and lesson planning aligned with GED standards.
  • Encourage the development of critical thinking and problem-solving abilities through instructional methods and student interactions.
  • Engage in continuous professional development and participate in program improvement meetings to enhance instructional effectiveness and share resources to meet student needs.
  • Deliver lessons through various modalities to accommodate diverse learning preferences.
  • Document and evaluate student progress towards mastery of PA Academic and College and Career Readiness Standards (CCRS), providing consistent feedback on their advancement.
  • Administer relevant assessment tools (TABE) and assist in interpreting results and recommending remediation strategies in collaboration with students and the GED Coordinator.
  • Maintain accurate daily attendance records and complete weekly tracking of student attendance.
  • Demonstrate professionalism and foster an inclusive environment that respects diverse socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds.
  • Aim for excellence in teaching by applying best practices in adult education and modeling behaviors that promote student success and retention.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the GED Coordinator.

Work Hours: Up to 20 hours per week.
