Job Summary:

The STEAM Scholars program is seeking a highly qualified and experienced educator to join our team as a STEAM Educator. As a STEAM Educator, you will be responsible for creating a quality nurturing and educational program environment by demonstrating proficiency in the assigned curriculum and effectively creating and implementing lesson plans.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement engaging and interactive lesson plans that meet the needs of diverse learners
  • Provide instruction and support to students, tutors, and volunteers to ensure program participants receive appropriate and strategic academic supports
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date student records, notes, and observations
  • Administer pre-assessment and ongoing assessment tools to measure student progress
  • Meet with students, teachers, and parents to develop specific achievement goals and individual learning plans
  • Provide timely feedback to the Site Director and support the development of positive relationships with students

Requirements:

  • Master's degree in Education or related field
  • Current certification in Elementary Education
  • Proven experience in classroom teaching and curriculum development
  • Excellent organizational and record-keeping skills
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse populations, including urban youth
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Valid driver's license
  • Completion of child abuse recognition and reporting training
  • Clearances required by PA Act 153

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working with multi-cultural populations
  • Knowledge of cultural flexibility and competency
  • Understanding of and appreciation for the Mission of The Salvation Army
