The Metalworking Specialist serves as Grainger's authority in machining, welding, and grinding. This position involves conducting on-site evaluations that help reduce customer expenses while enhancing efficiency through the latest technologies and methodologies. The Metalworking Specialist collaborates closely with internal sales teams to offer insights and expertise that assist our clients.

Reporting to a Regional Metalworking Manager, you will maintain a deep understanding of trends in the manufacturing and maintenance sectors, as well as training opportunities and forecasts to effectively respond to evolving customer demands.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Educating clients on technological advancements and innovations while facilitating change at their sites.
  • Partnering with Grainger sales teams and key suppliers to shape customer strategies and drive metalworking sales growth.
  • Conducting process and product evaluations for clients within metalworking applications.
  • Documenting and presenting value and cost savings to customers.
  • Developing and executing a strategic plan to achieve sales objectives for growth in metalworking products within your territory.
  • Utilizing Salesforce to track sales data, customer interactions, and document cost savings.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in a related field.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in the industry or distribution.
  • Field sales experience is preferred.
  • Proven ability to identify and implement improvement opportunities.
  • Knowledge of project management.
  • Experience managing both external and internal customer relationships.
  • Demonstrated success working independently and collaboratively.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs.
  • Experience with Customer Relationship Management (CRM) software or Salesforce is preferred.

A valid driver's license and the ability to travel locally are required.
